Earliest Childhood Memory

Earliest Childhood Memory

I remember sitting, playing on the steps in our old house and a big dog
coming to play with me and ending up pushing me down the stairs. The dog was
not aggressive, just overly friendly.
My mother says it is impossible for me to have remembered this because I was
only six months old at the time.
Maybe Mom is right and I have just heard it so many times that it seems to be a
memory of what really happened or do I really remember?

I remember the staircase, it was old dark wood and curved towards the bottom and
the dog was a German Shepard. I had on a white baby grow. I remember laughing at
the dog and my mom was sitting nearby.

The house was dark and old and there was a very high window above the staircase.
My mom says she never told me all those details and they are a true description of the
house we were living in at the time.
I ask again a real memory or did I hear it too many times and just picture in my head
of what it might have looked like?

I don’t know what to think. I prefer to think of the whole thing as a distinct memory,
even though I was just six months old when it happened.
Tell me what you think.
